Using the Sun J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) as the browsers Java Virtual Machine (JVM).

About Host Link Lite.

  1. Host Link Lite utilized the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) embedded in your browser. In the past we recommended clients use the Host Link Lite option if they were connecting to Host Link through a dialup line or if their desktop was older and could not handle large downloads.
  2. As a result of a lawsuit against Microsoft by Sun Microsystems the MSJVM is no longer available for distribution from Microsoft nor is it being included in future Microsoft products.
  3. Since December 31, 2006, Host Link Lite has NOT been updated to include the latest enhancements to Host Link. It was recommended that clients migrate off the MSJVM by using the Host Link Plug-in option.
  4. As of November 9, 2009, the Host Link Lite option has been eliminated. Clients will need to migrate off of the MSJVM and use the Host Link Plug-in option.
  5. Refer to the Microsoft website at http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/java/ for more detailed information.
